Community Organizations
This may not be a complete listing of all the organizations within the Village of Port Clements at any given time. More information may be found by contacting the Visitor Information Centre (Port Clements Museum) or the Village Office.
Established by municipal bylaw to operate a recreation service in the Village. They have the supervisory responsibilities over activities provided and conducted on or in connection with parks, playgrounds, athletic fields or other recreational facilities within the Village. They organize community events and celebrations on behalf of the municipality such as the Canada Days Weekend, Breakfast with Santa, and a variety of other activities.

Established by municipal bylaw to undertake the management of emergency preparedness in the municipality. They have responsibility to create, maintain and update plans for the preparation for, response to, and recovery from emergencies and disasters.

Established by municipal bylaw to operate a tourism service in the Village that can collaborate on economic development. They have supervisory responsibility to oversee activities related to tourism and will promote, expand, enhance and revitalize these opportunities and conditions.

Established in the 1980s by local resident volunteers, this society operates the Port Clements Museum and Visitor Information Centre.
This museum focuses on the local pioneer history of Port Clements with particular focus on the logging industry on Haida Gwaii.

Established in 2009/2010 in response to public outcry at the potential closure and disposition of the historic Community Hall after the construction of the Multiplex Building, this society was founded by residents to manage and operate the facility through an agreement with the Village. Facility rentals are directly handled by the society.
This community-based club supports local hunting and fishing interests and operates the only gun range on Haida Gwaii located outside of the community’s boundaries on the logging road heading towards Juskatla (5km Southwest of Port Clements). They regularly hold seasonal shooting events at the range.
Though made of members of the Port Clements Fire Department, this association is an independent body with its own constitution. Through the association they regularly hold social and fundraising activities to support the Fire Department, such as the Firefighter’s concession stand at Canada Days or hot chocolate and concession at Halloween. They also hold social events for the Fire Department, such as their Christmas Dinner. They meet monthly.
A local branch of the Senior Citizens Association of British Columbia, this community group holds a variety of monthly and seasonal events for the seniors in the Village of Port Clements and neighbouring Tlell.
They hold activities in the Seniors Room in the Multiplex Building in Port Clements.
While not a formal organization, there is a group of mothers with young children that get together and have access to the Playschool and/or school gym facilities during the week for kids to play and socialize.
